Purpose

Somehow I learned that I belonged with my people and that I had a responsibility to contribute to them.

I will participate in changing the situations of injustice and inequality that I encounter because they deny people their rights and destroy their potential.

– Dr. Antonia Pantoja, (Puerto Rican), 1922-2002

Latinx represent almost one in five people in the U.S. but remain invisible in the public dialogue. Contributing people and stories have been neglected from the primarily black and white narrative of American history, past and present.

Latinx, when rarely represented, are one-dimensional and inaccurate. Sadly, the type cast perpetuated by the growing political divide has demonize Latinx even more.

There are so many important Latinx that were and are part of the growing American story. It’s important to shed light on those stories and amazing contributors so that that future Latinx can have something to strive to and surpass.

LatinxHistory.com is a personal blog/project of Dallas Artist allo. All of the history on this site is pulled from multiple resources and referenced/linked at the bottom of each of their posts.
